Blogs with Bite is our occasional omnivorous sampling of food blogs and websites we find particularly tasty (the first course is here).
Today’s menu:
Capital Spice: Restaurant reviews and buzz, recipes, and food news for the Washington, DC area. We particularly recommend the Saturday smörgåsbord, Weekend Odds and Ends.
Food Tattoos: An astounding flickr photo group. 300 images of body art featuring food-centric and dining designs, with a discussion forum. If people say you are a food-fixated obsessive epicure, send them here. Food fashionistas: Cupcakes are big this season, on hips, shoulders, calves, bums, and bosoms.
Cooking with Dee: Recipes and food ideas, cooking and reference books, personable writing. Need an idea for a seasonal holiday dish? Consider trifle.
MilitaryChefs.com: Present pans! Synchronize egg timers! Not just for Grill Sergeants. Give this site an inspection tour, starting with the parade formation on the links page. Cutting-edge culinary tech, food storage and safety from all services. If you cook and serve meals away from home, you really need this site (Tailgaters: Form a column to the right — hut!). It’s not all SOS and MREs; a corps of seasoned culinary specialists allow commanders to remain on alert at HQ during the heat of battle. An army marches on its stomach; doesn’t everybody?
Cookthink: Reading dozens of recipes to find one you fancy can really put you off your feed. Use this digital kitchen utensil instead; it’s an online gastronomic search engine. Register (free), type in the combination of tastes you crave, and Cookthink delivers fresh recipes to your desktop.
Cooked Books: Rebecca Federman’s well-written blog explores the culinary collections of the New York Public Library and other aspects of the edible universe. Visual arts, recipes, food news and history, book reviews, and more.

Thanks for the shout out! We’re big fans of yours, as well – loved the Jelly Roll suggestion for Ben’s Next Door.

Thanks for putting my little blog on the map! The Lemon-Berry Trifle was a huge hit, almost as much as the surprise concert by Juni Fisher. cookingwithdee.net

Dee: When you post the Trifle recipe, I’ll put a link to it here.

I’ll have to make it up first. There may be 295 more. In the meantime let’s hope you are a master of all trades and jack of few. I am pleased to be in the company of so many talented people.
So, I have to know, is it your place that’s going for $50K for Inauguration week? If so, yeah, it’s us. You’ve got our place and can look out on the Bayou and take out our dog for practice. Good luck. Dee

My place won’t even sell for $50K. Anita got to dog-sit a rat terrier named “Grits” this weekend.

Hey I lived in Reston and Vienna in the … well, a long time ago. Your place is worth more than 50K even if it is a closet.
