Blueberry Hill,” written by Vincent Rose (né Vincenzo Cacioppo), with lyrics by Larry Stock and Al Lewis, performed by Gene Autry, 1941. This is the first commercial recording of the tune, which Autry sang in the film The Singing Hill.

Herb Jeffries, ‘Bronze Buckaroo’

Herb Jeffries, who sang with Duke Ellington and starred in early black westerns as the singing “Bronze Buckaroo,” died last week. He was believed to be 100 years old.
