Ron Paul Rumble at Republican Convention

Ron Paul Rumble at Republican Convention

Delegates pledged to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul rode their blimp through Tampa’s storm-scoured skies only to be dissed by GOP Convention rule-making manipulations. Congressman Paul was barred from speaking at the convention just because he doesn’t back the party’s billionaire-anointed candidate, financier Mitt Romney. Oh, also because he sounds like a crazy old coot, even compared to delusional loons like Rick Santorum and Paul Ryan.

Ron Paul Trial Balloon Shot Down Over I-85

Ron Paul Trial Balloon Shot Down Over I-85

Ron Paul has yet to deploy the mighty airships of the Paulista Air Force, but a Ron Paul hot air balloon flew a sortie over I-85 in South Carolina on Thursday.  It hovered outside Greenville during morning rush hour, and may have been tethered in the frontage road, since the Highway Patrol issued a citation. As Dr. Paul might say, there’s entirely too much law.

Iowa: Last Harrumph for Ron Paul?

January 4, 2012

Last Harrumph for Ron Paul

“Is this surge a vote for the congressman named Ron Paul? Impossible. It’s in fact the Republican Party protest vote. Since summer, this block of votes has jumped from one candidate to another, desperate for an anti-Obama champion whose anti-Washington intensity matches its own.”

–“The Ron Paul Vote,” Daniel Henninger, Wall Street Journal

Paulista Coup at Right-Wing Religious ‘Summit’

Paulista Coup at Right-Wing Religious'Summit'

Republican presidential candidates debated theology with right-wing fundamentalists this weekend in Washington. The Values Voters Summit, produced by the Family Research Council, staged a “Straw Poll” beauty contest, and lovely and talented Congressman Ron Paul won the tiara.

Conservative blogger Ed Morrisey notes:

” … to say that the Values Voters Summit organizers are skeptical of Paul’s win is an understatement. Tony Perkins [President of the Family Research Council] twice noted that 600 tickets were bought this morning, and that a great many people left after Paul’s speech. The conference sold 3406 registrations, well over their 2007 record of around 2700. If half of those 600 were Paul ringers [aka Paulbots -ml] and we take them out of the equation, then Cain would have finished first, 27/26 with Santorum at 19%. If 80% of today’s registrants were Paul ringers and are removed, Cain would have had 32% of the vote, followed by Santorum at 23% and Perry in third place with 12%.” [Notes and links added]

Gas Up the Blimp!

Gas Up the Blimp!

A humor-starved nation welcomes Congressman Ron Paul (R, TX-14) into the 2012 presidential race. His strong constituency of unmedicated mental patients, climate change deniers, potheads, gun nuts, gold bugs, teenie boppers, survivalists and anarchists makes him a Tea Party shoo-in. We can’t wait for the new blimp.

Ron Paul Wins CPAC Beauty Contest

February 13, 2011

Ron Paul Wins CPAC Beauty Contest

The Conservative Political Action Conference met in Washington this week, and hilarity ensued. Republican stalwarts were hoist by their own petard as the Tea Party they fostered bit them in the hindquarters. Loons in tri-cornered hats and outrage-loving college students voted for Congressman Ron Paul as prom queen their favorite 2012 presidential candidate. Perhaps he’ll be the centerfold in the new Tea Party magazine.

How did 76-year-old Ron Paul get such a big youth following at CPAC? His Campaign for Liberty bought the kids tickets. Now there’s a man who really believes in Free Market principles.

Dr. Paul’s political position is simple to understand and fits on bumper stickers: the best government is no government.  Our position: gotta love that blimp.

Conservatives Vote for Ron Paul

February 21, 2010

Conservatives Vote for Ron Paul

Reporters called the 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) a “conservative convention.” Perhaps this reflects the recent Supreme Court ruling giving corporations the political rights of flesh-and-blood citizens.  Certainly CPAC’s big funders include entrenched corporate entities that import and refine oil and profit from the legislative obstructionism ACU and CPAC generate.
