At a campaign stop storm relief event last Tuesday in Kettering, Ohio, ex-financier Mitt Romney rolled up his sleeves, hitched up his blue jeans, and accepted donated cans of soup and bottles of Gatorade on behalf of Hurricane Sandy victims on the East Coast. Of course, Mr. Romney’s campaign really bought $5,000 worth of those groceries at Walmart, and the Red Cross and other aid agencies discourage such well-intentioned but unhelpful in-kind donations.

Romney to the Rescue!
November 3, 2012Moon Man Newt on Romney Campaign
September 30, 2012The Romney-Ryan ticket received a grudging endorsement from a Republican heavyweight, the disgraced ex-Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich. Of course, Mr. Gingrich also endorsed “Legitimate Rape” train wreck Todd Akin.
Actually, Newt Gingrich endorsed the Romney space plan— half-way, anyway. It seems he’s still angling for a job as Governor of the Moon.

Herman Cain’s Jumbo Slice of Ego
September 27, 2012Everyone thinks that the Mitt Romney presidential campaign is toast, including former rival Herman Cain. What’s more, the Pizza King thinks he wouldn’t have been in this position:
“But Cain said he would have been doing better if he was the nominee, saying that he’d probably have a ‘substantial lead’ on President Barack Obama at this point.
‘The reason is quite simple: I have some depth to my ideas,’ he said.”
— “Cain says he’d be leading Obama if he were nominee,” Nathan Crabbe, Gainesville Sun

Romney Health Care Plan for the 47 Percent
September 26, 2012Ex-financier Willard Mitt Romney on CBS “60 Minutes“:
“Well, we do provide care for people who don’t have insurance. If someone has a heart attack, they don’t sit in their apartment and die. We pick them up in an ambulance and take them to the hospital and give them care. And different states have different ways of providing for that care.”
Odd talk for a man whose chief accomplishment in his single term in public office was a successful universal health insurance program. ER care costs three times what primary care does, and taxpayers and policyholders pick up the tab for the uninsured, so that’s odd math from a man who claims he’ll fix the economy. Something else is odd: Mitt Romney was against emergency room primary care before he was for it. Someone needs to remind him that the emergency department is not health insurance.

Paul Ryan, Republican Intellectual
September 24, 2012Paul Ryan is today’s leading Republican intellectual because he’s read 4 books. Well 3, actually, but he read Atlas Shrugged twice.. Alec MacGillis has a thorough examination of this in The New Republic:
“It wasn’t clear at first that he even wanted to be in D.C. Offered a position on Senator Bob Kasten’s committee right after college, Ryan took awhile to respond because he was trying to find work as a ski instructor in Colorado instead.”
“Ryan was inquisitive during his early days on the Hill, but in a way that was hard to distinguish from mere favor-currying. (He had been named the ‘biggest brown noser’ of his high school class.) He nagged [Cesar] Conda … so often with questions about supply-side economics that Conda lent him two books to keep him busy—Jude Wanniski’s The Way the World Worksand George Gilder’s Wealth and Poverty, both foundational tracts for trickle-down Reaganomics.”
Tax Returns? Romney Won’t Even Reveal His Real Name.
September 9, 2012According to CNN, sleazy magazine publisher and free speech activist Larry Flynt is “offering up to a million dollars in cash for documented evidence concerning Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s unreleased tax returns and/or details of his offshore assets, bank accounts and business partnerships.” Mr. Romney, Republican Presidential candidate, has only released one complete year of tax returns, refusing to reveal more unless he’s elected. Details about the candidate’s offshore bank accounts in Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the Cayman Islands have prompted calls for more complete tax record disclosure, most recently by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
It’s unlikely Mr. Romney will reveal more tax returns; he won’t even reveal his real name. He’s been telling us his first name is Mitt, but it’s really Willard. Don’t believe that? Okay, ask to see his birth certificate.

Self-Deportation
September 8, 2012(images: DrunkOnSteven )
Despite advice from John McCain and Jeb Bush, Republican Presidential Candidate Willard Mitt Romney insists that calling for “Self-Deportation” is lots easier than figuring out real immigration policy. The GOP succumbed to the bargaining skills of ex-financier Romney, and ” Self-Deportation” is on the 2012 Republican Platform. In the event of a Romney victory, Steven Colbert predicts Citizen Self-Deportation. We cannot confirm the rumor that Ron Paul supporters will Self-Teleport.

Unborn Caucus Scores Big on GOP Platform
August 22, 2012Acting on the medical advice of Todd Akin’s gynecologist, the Republican National Committee platform panel added a plank outlawing abortion, even in cases of incest, medical necessity, or “legitimate rape.”
You’d think Republicans would be busy crafting meaningful measures to fix the economy they broke instead of reviving the delusional policies they used to destroy it during the Bush administration. Yet here they are, a week before the GOP Convention, getting between women and their doctors instead. Why? The subversive influence of the Zygote Liberation Front, a Tea Party splinter group, which penetrated the GOP platform committee like an intrustive Virginia ultrasound probe.
Like Newt Gingrich? You’ll Love Paul Ryan.
August 16, 2012Who is Paul Ryan? He spent a few months at the Tea Party’s alleged “Think Tank” and read a cult novel and a few faddish books as an impressionable undergrad. These days that’s enough to make him a Republican Intellectual, the GOP’s Idea Man, the party’s Intellectual Leader.
So basically Paul Ryan is a Big Ideas Guy, Newt Gingrich with fewer chins.

Paul Ryan: We Have a Wiener!
August 12, 2012
Finally, there’s a winner in the Republican Veepstakes. Mitt Romney’s VP running mate is Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan (R, WI-1). He once drove the Wienermobile for Oscar Meyer, and that was his last honest job. He’s peddled his bologna as a DC political hack ever since.
