Trump Accepts 2020 Republican Abdication

In an interminable speech late on Thursday, delivered in front of his public housing project, Donald J. Trump accepted the abject abdication of the Republican Party, formerly known as the Party of Lincoln. During his 70-minute address Mr. Trump shared a lie every three minutes, visions of American armageddon, and an incurable virus with his packed, maskless audience. In a novel coronavirus twist, the incumbent is running as a challenger, blaming his own three-and-a-half years of failure on his political opponent.

The event was celebrated by fireworks at another federal property, as citizens frolicked in the streets:

“Trump’s parade of desperate lies reveals one big and awful truth,” Greg Sargent, Washington Post

“There’s No 2020 Republican Platform. There’s Just Trump.” NotionsCapital

There’s No 2020 Republican Platform. There’s Just Trump.

August 26, 2020

There's No 2020 Republican Platform. There's Just Trump.

On Sunday the 2020 Republican National Committee announced that the 2020 GOP presidential campaign will not have a political platform, just a pledge of fealty to Donald Trump. Perhaps the Republican Party should now be called a Cult of Personality Disorder.

“The GOP Has No Party Platform. Literally.” Cristina Cabrera, TalkingPointsMemo

“GOP Will Not Write a 2020 Platform, Pledges Undying Trump Support Instead,” Jonathan Chait, New York Magazine

“Why Republicans didn’t write a platform for their convention this year,” Andrew Prokop, Vox

“It’s official: Trump is the GOP. And the GOP is Trump.” Paul Waldman, Washington Post

“The Trump MAGA-verse consumes the RNC,” Tina Nguyen, Politico

Bedtime, Grandpa Clint?

Bedtime, Grandpa Clint?

Clint Eastward opens for Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention. More Gran Torino than Dirty Harry. More rambling Grandpa at Thanksgiving dinner than either.

Ron Paul Rumble at Republican Convention

Ron Paul Rumble at Republican Convention

Delegates pledged to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul rode their blimp through Tampa’s storm-scoured skies only to be dissed by GOP Convention rule-making manipulations. Congressman Paul was barred from speaking at the convention just because he doesn’t back the party’s billionaire-anointed candidate, financier Mitt Romney. Oh, also because he sounds like a crazy old coot, even compared to delusional loons like Rick Santorum and Paul Ryan.

Unborn Caucus Scores Big on GOP Platform

Unborn Caucus Scores on GOP Platform

Acting on the medical advice of Todd Akin’s gynecologist, the Republican National Committee platform panel added a plank outlawing abortion, even in cases of incest, medical necessity, or “legitimate rape.”

You’d think Republicans would be busy crafting meaningful measures to fix the economy they broke instead of reviving the delusional policies they used to destroy it during the Bush administration. Yet here they are, a week before the GOP Convention, getting between women and their doctors instead. Why? The subversive influence of the Zygote Liberation Front, a Tea Party splinter group, which penetrated the GOP platform committee like an intrustive Virginia ultrasound probe.
