Trump's Triumphant Tuesday

On Super Tuesday Donald J. Trump, reality TV star, failed mortage banker, and threat to American democracy, won more states than any other Republican primary candidate, ever. God save the Republic.

Bernie’s Spring Break

Bernie's Spring Break

Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign has been turbocharged by the energy of young people, particularly college students. But next month there’s a competing outlet for all that energy: Spring Break.

“This year’s spring break schedule clashes directly with a large swath of primaries and caucuses, a conflict that comes at the worst possible time for Sanders, who crushed his rival Hillary Clinton among young and first-time voters in the exit polls in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada. The Democratic race is about to enter a four-week stretch where more than half of the party’s delegates will be awarded. But as the voting gets under way, one campus after another is closing down for weeklong breaks. In all, more than half a million college students from 14 states will be on spring break at the same time that the presidential campaign train chugs onto their campuses, according to a Politico analysis of the March 5 to March 26 primary and caucus states.”

— “Bernie’s spring break blues,” Darren Samuelsohn, Politico

Jeb Drops Out

February 21, 2016

Jeb Drops Out
John Ellis “Jeb” Bush, 3th Earl of Bush son of the 41st US president and brother of the 43rd, has suspended his campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. The Republican Party establishment faces a grim choice: Hold its nose and back Rubio, pretend John Kasich can win, or move even more of its personal wealth to Cayman Island banks.

Gingrich Battles in Gulf Coast and Lunar Primaries

Disgraced former Speaker Newt Gingrich is vying for Intergalactic Republican Supremacy in Tuesday’s primary battle for Truth, Justice, Adultery and the American Way. “America has a destiny in space,” Mr. Gingrich bravely told a crowd of aerospace engineers at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. No odds on what he dealt out to casino workers in Biloxi.

Gingrich Craps Out

Gingrich Craps Out

Newton Leroy Gingrich, disgraced former Speaker of the House, lost the Nevada Republican Presidential Caucus on Saturday, a crap shoot won by Mitt Romney. The campaign of High Roller Gingrich is now $600,000 in debt.

Nevada draws 50 million tourists a year with its two famed industries, whores and gambling. Sadly for Mr. Gingrich, he’s losing the backing of Nevada casino owner Sheldon Adelson, and Nevada’s prostitutes voted for Ron Paul.

Romney Wins New Hampshire Primary

Mitt Romney won the New Hampshire GOP primary election Tuesday. His warm and genuine personality won over reluctant Republicans in the Granite State. Second place went to geriatric gynecologist Ron Paul. Now it’s on to South Carolina and the monumental Clash of the Titans. Governor Romney and disgraced former Congressman Newt Gingrich will look on as their Super PACs battle to the death.

Virginia’s Newt Gingrich Scratched from Virginia Primary

December 26, 2011

Virginia's Newt Gingrich Scratched from Virginia Primary
As a Virginia registered Republican, presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich is eligible to vote in Virginia’s GOP Primary on March 5, 2012, but he isn’t eligible to be on the ballot. His campaign in the Old Dominion failed to get the signatures of 10,000 fellow Virginians on its nominating petition.

This really hits him where he lives. Newt Gingrich moved to McLean in 1999, where he and Callista Bisek moved in together in May 2000. They were married in Fairfax County that August. Mr. Gingrich has voted in McLean since 2002.
