Summer Solstice 2013

At 05:04 UTC (01:04 a.m. EDT) on June 21, the Sun reached its northernmost point, furthest from the equator, directly over the Tropic of Cancer. Folks wintering in the Southern Hemisphere call this the June or Northern Solstice.  Here in the Northern Hemisphere we call this the Summer Solstice, or the first day of Summer. Can we get a lift to the beach?
