Molten Iron Fireworks

In the small Chinese village of Nuanquan, they make fireworks displays by throwing molten iron against the wall, creating bright showers of sparks. They’ve been celebrating holidays this way, called Da Shuhua, for 500 years. The district’s iron-workers, once too poor to afford conventional fireworks, developed the tradition.
