Mar-a-Lago Must Be a Sh*thole

In an anti-immigrant rant during a meeting with members of Congress, serial bankrupt, racist isolationist, and U.S. President Donald Trump referred to Haiti and African nations as “sh*thole countries.” Mr. Trump then left Washington for his private Palm Beach resort (membership fee: $200,000). This season that Florida club, Mar-a-Lago, hired 70 foreign workers through the H-2B visa program. Where are many of those Mar-a-Lago workers from?

Oui, Haiti.

“Trump asked why the US needs more Haitians. Mar-a-Lago may hold the answer,” Christina Wilkie, CNBC

Crisis Communication

Crisis Communication

In the aftermath of a catastrophic earthquake, a remarkable high-tech communication channel kept the people of Haiti informed. This innovative technology conveys data through the air, but is not dependent on fragile cell transmitters or spotty WiFi connectivity. It was devised by a guy named Marconi.

Just like WWL Radio brought information to New Orleans during and after Katrina, Haiti’s Signal FM has stayed on the air. You can read about it here, visit the station’s website, and even listen to it.
