Happy Birthday Silvio Berlusconi

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi turned 75 yesterday. The AC Milan soccer team sent greetings to the embattled billionaire — he owns the franchise — but he got brickbats from most Italians. His biggest gift was a new sex scandal: former Miss Montenegro Katarina Knezevic says she had an affair with him.

Berlusconi: 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien'

“Coming from a politician who has previously likened himself to Napoleon and Jesus Christ, there was perhaps always going to be one answer when Silvio Berlusconi was asked what in the past he would change if given the chance.

‘No, there’s nothing that I consider a real mistake,’ replied the Italian prime minister, who has suffered a draining away of political support in recent times as he fended off accusations of sleeping with teenage prostitutes and charges that his country’s economy is now heading for the rocks under his erratic stewardship.”

Berlusconi is Going Down. Here’s Why.

Berlusconi is Going Down. Here's Why.

Italian media billionaire Silvio Berlusconi has been indicted by an Italian court and will go to trial in April. His case has attracted a bit of attention since: 1) the 74-year-old is accused of relations with an exotic teenage prostitute, and 2) Mr. Berlusconi is Italy’s Prime Minister.

A half-million Italian women recently protested Mr. Berlusconi’s patronage of teenage prostitutes, but another charge puts him in greater legal jeopardy. The young lady in question was taken into police custody for seizing money and jewels belonging to another. In an attempt to cover up his relationship with her, the Prime Minister sent his attractive dental hygienist/procuress/member of parliament to the police station to free the teen. Well, sure, anybody would.

Silvio Berlusconi, on TV. As a Critic.

Silvio Berlusconi on TV. As a Critic.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was on television recently. That’s unsurprising since he owns many TV stations and he is (at the moment) Prime Minister. But it was someone else’s station, La 7, and he phoned in to a live show. The program was L’Infedele, a talk show about infidelity, so it’s no surprise that the subject was Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, currently embroiled in a scandal involving sex parties and pay-for-play relations with teenage girls.

Mr. Berlusconi told TV host Gad Lerner that his show is “a whorehouse,” a claim one blogger described as “the pot calling the kettle despicable.”  Mr. Lerner called the PM a buffoon. Here’s a video clip:

Italian — Moroccan Relations

Italian -- Moroccan Relations

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is being hounded by prosecutors in Milan just because he had sex with a sixteen-year-old girl. Why not? After all, he paid for it. A billionaire media mogul, Berlusconi is a firm believer in free market capitalism, but prostitution is considered terribly unfashionable in Italy. The Berlusconi government even passed strict laws against prostitution, but also another law making the Prime Minister immune from prosecution. Che dilemma!

The courts revoked the immunity law? Ha! Silvio Berlusconi refuses to be questioned by magistrates about prostitution, and refuses to leave office for refusing to testify.

The young lady in question, runaway teen dancer Karima el-Mahroug (aka Karima Keyek), is nicknamed “Ruby Rubacuori,” “Ruby Heart-Stealer.” She must still be a teenager since she’s on Facebook [we pause briefly so you can “Like” her]. Ms. el-Mahroug was born in Morocco, so perhaps her compensation was merely an aspect of Italian foreign aid policy.
