Tea Party

Tea Party

“A hall full of elderly white people in Medicare-paid scooters, railing against government spending and imagining themselves revolutionaries as they cheer on the vice-presidential puppet hand-picked by the GOP establishment. If there exists a better snapshot of everything the Tea Party represents, I can’t imagine it.”

More:

“Tea & Crackers,” Matt Taibbi, Rolling Stone (long and well worth reading).

“Proof that the Tea Party and GOP base are the same thing,” Steve Kornacki, Salon.

Conservatives Vote for Ron Paul

Conservatives Vote for Ron Paul

Reporters called the 2010 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) a “conservative convention.” Perhaps this reflects the recent Supreme Court ruling giving corporations the political rights of flesh-and-blood citizens.  Certainly CPAC’s big funders include entrenched corporate entities that import and refine oil and profit from the legislative obstructionism ACU and CPAC generate.

March of the Disgruntled in DC

March of the Disgruntled in DC

They came from all across this great land, from Sun City to Leisure World, united only by … by … Dick Armey’s astroturf roots movement and their dissatisfaction with … something-or-other.

Rebels without a common cause, they came to Washington because whatever irks them, it must be that guy’s fault, that Obama. He’s been in office practically forever.

So they brought their Winnebagos and walkers to Washington, all  two million, one million, 100,000, 60,000 of them.

That’s about the number expected for next week’s big DC demonstration and march, Mothers Against Bad Stuff. DC Drivers: expect delays — just like any other weekend in Washington.

Just another weekend in Washington

Obama Brainwashing! Obama Brainwashing!

September 7, 2009

Obama Brainwashing! Obama Brainwashing!

Tuesday morning at school, when your kids are in a pliant, receptive mood after reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the clever neuro-seducers of the White House will turn their classroom televisions into weapons of child destruction. Their tender brains will be warped against all you hold holy through a propaganda broadcast by The Obama himself!  The fiend will turn your offspring against you with his litany of outrageous blasphemies, including:

If at First You Don’t Secede ….

April 18, 2009

If at First You Don't Secede ....

Last Wednesday, Governor Rick Perry told a group of teabag-wielding Texans that the state might secede from the Union again. This won him cheers from the crowd — unsurprising, since Mr. Perry is a former Aggie cheerleader. Now that we think about it, that appears to be his major qualification for public office.

Inauguration? Just Another DC Weekend

Inaguration? Just Another DC Weekend

The inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th President of the United States will be an historic moment in time. It will be an important moment in town, in Washington, but for DC residents it will not be much different from what goes on here every weekend.

Drive into DC on a weekend and electronic signs warn you: “CAUTION — DOWNTOWN EVENTS — EXPECT DELAYS.” There are marathons, fun runs, festivals, motorcycle rallies, marches, walk-a-thons, BBQ contests, tour bus caravans, rolling roadblocks, prayer vigils, demonstrations, motorcades, exhibitions, bike-a-thons, tourist mobs, high school senior trips, and pointless protests (“Mothers Against Bad Stuff”).

Sarah Palin — Mad As Hell!

January 10, 2009

Sarah Palin -- Mad As Hell!

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is mad as hell at the media, and she’s not gonna take it any more. Mrs. Palin has been telephoning everyone in the media to tell them how the media always victimize her.

The failed Republican vice presidential candidate is upset with press claims that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol and the father of her out-of-wedlock grandchild are “high school dropouts” just because they stopped going to school.

Such calumny is bad enough, but so-called “professional journalists” forced Mrs. Palin to answer questions not previously submitted in writing, video-recorded her answers, then broadcast the results without editing out her flubs, evasions and errors. Some malicious reporters even had the gall to investigate abuses of power by the Governor and “First Thug” Todd — everyone knows abuse of power is okay when you do it for family.

Joe the Plumber Plunges into Gaza

Joe the Plumber Plunges into Gaza

“Joe the Plumber,” Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio, is on his way to the Gaza fray.

The non-plumber, non-economist, worst-selling memoirist, would-be country singer and token exhibition plebian for the failed McCain presidential campaign is now a non-war non-correspondent covering the Israeli incursion into Gaza for some blog. He is uniquely qualified to do this, as he was briefly famous for being well-known.

Palin — Levi is Not a Dropout, He’s a Liar.

January 4, 2009

Palin -- Levi is not a Dropout, He's a Liar

Alaska Governor Sara Palin takes umbrage with reports that the teenage father of her out-of-wedlock grandchild is a high school dropout. There must be a giant open-pit umbrage mine somewhere in Alaska, because the Governor sure takes a lot of it.

Levi Johnston (18), retired high school hockey player, fathered a babe (named Tic-Tac or something) on Mrs Palin’s 17-year-old daughter Bristol. The age of consent in Alaska is about 9, so it’s OK.

The Gov says Bristol and her baby’s daddy are not high school dropouts; they just stopped going to school.

Aha. We stand corrected.

So does Levi Johnston. He told Associated Press in October that he had dropped out of school. So if his baby’s Granny is right and he isn’t a dropout, he’s … um, less than truthful.
