Michele Bachmann: God Will Destroy America Like Sodom & Gommorah!

Michele Bachmann: God Will Destroy America Just Sodom & Gommorah!

Last weekend, while Pope Francis spoke to you about world peace and justice, former Congresscreature and Tea Party loon Michele Bachmann told radio host Janet Markell that President Obama, same-sex marriage, family planning clinics, and fetal cell research doom the United States to God’s fiery wrath:

“When we raise our fist to a holy God and say that we are going to redefine marriage, we are going to be okay with paying a Planned Parenthood to cut up innocent baby parts and sell them for research, that clearly is a problem and as we have seen God render judgment in the days of Noah, in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah and so forth throughout history, what the prophets have told every generation is that there is a just God and the people must repent and turn to him. So too in this day of wickedness in our own culture, we need to do the same. We need to repent and we need to confess because a holy Savior is coming to save us and redeem us from this sin-sick world.”

Yes, Please! Louie Gohmert Offers to Quit.

September 11, 2015

Yes, Please! Louie Gohmert Offers to Quit.

Earlier this week, right-wing radio ranter Glenn Beck got an email from Tea Party loon and Congress Creature Louie Gohmert (R, TX-1):

‘Last week, I announced to the world if the House and Senate will treat Iran — the Iran treaty as a treaty, I will not run for my congressional seat again.”

Media outlets took this to mean that Mr. Gohmert would skedaddle back to the Piney Woods of East Texas and not run for a 6th term if the Senate didn’t rustle up enough votes to overturn a veto of the Iran nuclear agreement. And when Senate Democrats kept this from transpiring, sane people everywhere started rejoicing.

But hold the weddin,’ Bubba. Rep. Gohmert walked the whole thing back on Wednesday, saying his deal was that if Congress adopted his proposal to treat the multinational agreement as a treatythat’s when he’d resign.

So don’t worry, DC will have no shortage of lunatic conspiracy theories anytime soon. You can bet that the savvy folks of East Texas are gonna reelect ol’ Louie. They figure to keep Texas safe by making sure Louie Gohmert stays in far away Washington.

Mothers Day, a Horror Story

Mothers Day, a Horror Story

This is a tale of love, obsession, madness, candy, and carnations. It is the story of Mother’s Day.

The holiday was passionately promoted by single-minded spinster Anna Jarvis (1864-1948), described by Michael Farquhar as “… a woman of fierce loyalty and tireless enterprise and a total raving lunatic.”

Miss Jarvis worshipped her mother’s memory, and no wonder. Her mother, Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis (1832 – 1905), was truly a saint. Daughter of a clergyman, Ann Maria Reeves married merchant and minister Granville E. Jarvis and gave birth to 11 children, only four of whom survived into adulthood.  In 1851 Mrs. Jarvis, a Sunday School teacher, founded Mothers Day Work Clubs in West Virginia. These met in local churches but were no parish sewing circles.  The clubs dealt with health care, disability, infant mortality, poverty, employment, worker safety, food safety, and sanitation issues. Mrs. Jarvis’ brother, James E. Reeves, MD, a public health authority, was a supporter and frequent club lecturer.

The Civil War divided West Virginia communities and families, but Mrs. Jarvis kept Mothers Day Work Club members together. The women treated wounded soldiers on both sides and helped combat typhoid fever and measles epidemics.  After the war Mrs. Jarvis organized an annual Mothers’ Friendship Day to help reunite neighbors who had supported opposing sides. People honored mothers with carnations. After her husband died in 1902, Mrs Jarvis (and her daughters) moved to Philadelphia and lived with her son Claude, a prosperous businessman.

Tea Party Testimony

October 18, 2013

Tea Party Testimony
Testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives by House stenographer Dianne Reidy on Wednesday, October 16, 2013:

“Do not be deceived. God shall not be mocked. A House divided cannot stand. He will not be mocked, He will not be mocked, (don’t touch me!) He will not be mocked. The greatest deception here, is that this is not one nation under God. It never was. Had it been… it would not have been… No. it would not have been… the Constitution would not have been written by Free Masons… and go against God. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God, Lord Jesus Christ.”

— “Stenographer snaps, rants on House floor,” CNN

Discussion:

“The funny thing is the House stenographer was only like the 137th craziest person in the room.” — Dan Amira, via Twitter

“But who knows, maybe she just saw something that didn’t seem right and mounting frustration and tensions brought it out of her.” — Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Fox News

“The ‘Holy Spirit’ made her do it: Stenographer Dianne Reidy offers Godly excuse for bizarre House of Representatives rant,” Michael Sheridan, New York Daily News

Bachmann Sees the End Times

October 9, 2013

Bachmann Sees the End Times

Congress-creature Michele Bachmann, the Republican representing the 6th District of Minnesota, the Planet Mars, the Tea Party Caucus, and the voice of the Lord, warns that The End Is Near:

“ … President Obama waived a ban on arming terrorists in order to allow weapons to go to the Syrian opposition. … US taxpayers are now paying to give arms to terrorists including Al Qaeda.”

“Now what this says to me, I’m a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times … we are to understand where we are in God’s end times history.”

Conspiracy!

Conspiracy!

“The media has their own agenda. And if the media has a storyline, it just writes it in …. And currently the storyline is ‘conspiracy theorist.’ …Why is it a concentrated effort now to label me a conspiracy theorist?”

— “Glenn Beck sees media conspiracy to label him a ‘conspiracy theorist,'” Stephen C. Webster, Raw Story

Bye-Bye Bachmann

Congresscreature Michele Bachmann, who has represented Minnesota’s 6th District and Planet Mars for the past eight years, will retire from Congress next year in order to spend more quality time with her attorneys. Mrs. Bachmann, the screaming whistle of the Tea Party kettle, is under investigation for shenanigans perpetrated during her presidential campaign quest for World Domination in the name of Jesus.

Rep. Bachmann will be mourned by the army of fact-checkers and copy editors she has kept fully employed during her four terms in office.
