The Department of Transportation is opening express lanes in military air space on both coasts during the holidays, as it did during Thanksgiving, and is limiting the number of flights at airports in the New York City area.
DOT says this is being done to reduce congestion caused by holiday vacation travel. But there may be other reasons for this season’s snarl-ups in the sky:
The Ron Paul Blimp website now has a GPS readout in a Google map-satellite-hybrid format so you can track its stately progress as it wafts through the aether towards a luminescent Libertarian tomorrow.
Or something.
The blimp is still back in Elizabeth City, NC. It apparently sleeps 5 meters off the ground, tethered to a pole, and might make a good weathervane, though a bit ostentatious for my taste.

The Ron Paul Blimp was grounded today due to bad weather. Tomorrow the blimp will fly back to Elizabeth, NC, its point of origin.
Paulistas were quick to say this was not a metaphor for the campaign.

No! It’s the Ron Paul blimp!
After a delay due to tardy art work delivery, the Libertarian’s lighter-than-air craft made a Friday morning lift off from Elizabeth City, NC (isn’t that a big Coast Guard base? What’s the story there? Just who owns that blimp, anyhow?).
There are supposed to be real-time video feeds from the blimp on the web, but they seem to be down. There are photos of the launch, however.some in a slide show
You may have heard: devotees of Libertarian-Republican Internet-artifact presidential candidate and cult-leader-Congressman Dr. Ron Paul (R-TX) are launching a lighter-than-air craft to promote their campaign.
It will ascend at Elizabeth City, NC on Monday and fly over Washington, DC about 3 pm. We assume the zany zeppelin has permission to enter the Capital’s restricted airspace but, given the candidate’s Libertarian philosophy, maybe not. Perhaps the blimp symbolizes Dr. Paul’s intention to repeal the Law of Gravity if elected.
