“Walk On By,” written by Burt Bacharach, with lyrics by Hal David, recorded by Helen Shapiro, 1964. The Dionne Warwick version had been out for a few months before this was released. Ms. Shapiro, an East-End-born teenager, usually suffered at the hands of kitschy arrangers, but the influence of Bacharach thankfully prevails here. The singer is unknown in the USA.
