The Army’s Flying Jeep

The U.S. military tested a “flying jeep” in 1959 on the theory that a low-flying vehicle following the contour of the landscape would be invisible to radar. And it wouldn’t get stuck in the mud. Things were going pretty well until the brass thought about having to ask Congress to fund something called a “flying Jeep.”
