FBI Executive Search

FBI Executive Search

After praising FBI Director James Comey since October and expressing confidence in him for the last 100 days, on Tuesday President Trump fired him. The pretext concerned Mr. Comey’s handling of the Clinton email investigation, but the firing came soon after the Director’s congressional testimony about the FBI’s investigation into links between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives.

President Trump, the subject of those FBI investigations, will now pick the next FBI Director. Former Trump campaign advisor Jeff Sessions, now Attorney General, who pledged to recuse himself from any investigations of Trump campaign links to Russia, will help pick the FBI chief heading those investigations. What could be more ethical?

Persons said to be under consideration for FBI Director include:

Doddering former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani has taken himself out of the running (whew) and tough talkin’, Stetson sportin’ Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke is keeping mum. Other rumored Comey replacements include former G-Man and Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers (R, MI-8), former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, former Federal Prosecutor and current South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy (R, SC-4), former DOJ National Security Division chief Ken Wainstein, ex-FBI man and former TSA head John Pistole, former executive assistant FBI director Michael Mason, former NH attorney general and defeated US senator Kelly Ayotte, former DOJ lawyer Alice Fisher, and former Deputy Attorney General George J. Terwilliger III, and federal judge Henry E. Hudson (“Hang ‘Em High Henry”). Outside chances include Chris “Bridgegate” ChristieClint Eastwood, and Chuck Norris. And of course Jared Kushner.
