“Different Drum,” written by Mike Nesmith, released by The Stone Poneys in 1967. In fact, while vocalist Linda Ronstadt was in the folk rock Poneys, she was the only member of the trio on the recording session. Jimmy Bond (bass), guitarist Al Viola (guitar), Don Randi (harpsichord), Jim Gordon (drums) and a string section accompanied her.
