In the Summertime

“In the Summertime,” written by Ray Dorset and recorded by him with his skiffle group Mungo Jerry in 1970. Ray Dorset (vocals), Mike Cole (string bass), Colin Earl (piano), Paul King (banjo, kazoo), and Joe Rush on washboard. The group’s name was inspired by a poem from T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.
