From the soundtrack of the 1958 film “Ascenseur pour l’échafaud” (“Elevator to the Gallows”), directed by Louis Malle, starring Jeanne Moreau and Maurice Ronet. The film, M. Malle’s first feature, is based on a novel by Noël Calef.
