On June 17, 1928, 30-year-old Amelia Earhart became the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean in an airplane, with co-pilots Wilmer “Bill” Stultz and Louis “Slim” Gordon. Four years later she flew it alone, first woman to fly the Atlantic solo.
