Singer Kitty Wells (née Ellen Muriel Deason) died Monday at age 92. Her husband of 74 years, Johnny Wright of the duo Johnny & Jack, passed away last year. Ms. Wells, the Queen of Honky Tonk Street, was the first woman vocalist to have a solo hit record on the Country & Western music charts.

She flew under my radar screen…but then country isn’t my “thang.” Great video! A curiosity though…how she manages to NOT tap her foot to the rhythm. LOL

Maha: Kitty Wells was a star of the Post-WWII C&W style known as Honky Tonk. Her first and biggest hit was recorded in 1952.
