Pleasure Palace in Japan: Wendy's

Want a Wendy’s Foie Gras Rossini Burger? It’ll cost you $16 and a plane ticket to Japan. Wendy’s has reentered the Japanese market and introduced a luxury menu at a location in Tokyo’s tony Omotesandō neighborhood. That Foie Gras Burger also features truffles. You want fries with that?

Wendy’s Japan is a joint venture between The Wendy’s Company and Higa Industries. Majority partner Higa is run by Hawaiian-born, Columbia-educated Ernest Higa, the revered captain of industry who brought pizza home delivery to Japan. The team plans to open 100 restaurants in the next five years.

About that foie gras: we don’t know if the body parts of tortured animals are locally produced or imported. Japan ships the stuff in from FranceSpain and Hungary.
