The new NBA season is upon us, and Washington Wizard Gilbert Arenas is back among the shooters. Mr. Arenas is also on probation for felony gun offenses, having brought four handguns into the team locker room after an argument over a card game. He returns to basketball after a month in a halfway house.
There is media interest about the sports millionaire’s gun incident and halfway house experience, but NBA Commissioner Stern told Mr. Arenas not to shoot his mouth off about it.
Gilbert Arenas is also under the gun in a California lawsuit. A Beverly Hills gun dealer claims the Wizard weapons fancier bought five custom Beretta pistols and five silencers in 2006, paid for them, but never picked them up. The company claims the hoopster owes $70,000 in storage fees.
Silencers are illegal, fired back Mr. Arenas’ attorney; they never sold have sold them to him. Perhaps Mr. Arenas should not have ordered them?
