Cherry Blossoms Bloom — On DC TV

Cherry Clossoms Bloom -- On DC TV

The snow has melted, but Washington’s cherry trees are bare — except on public television. WETA is running a program called The Washington Cherry Blossoms: Beauty on the Basin, and sun-washed pink blooms wave across your TV screen, accompanied by inoffensive music.

“Beauty on the Basin” sounds like the brand name of those little soap cakes grandma puts on the sink when you visit. The segments are only about 30 minutes long but seem much longer. The program, which makes curling seem breathtaking, will repeat throughout the month.

But that’s not all!  Donate to the station and get your own extended recording of the show. Owners of the thrilling Yule Log Burning in the Hearth DVD won’t want to miss this offer.

  1. Dee Says:

Sorry about all the snow. Everyone’s complaining here [Park City, Utah] that we didn’t get enough for the ski season, and some resorts have an 80″ to 100″ base so that’s pretty good. But in DC snow means havoc and I know because I spent three years in it and 1/4 inch would cancel school.

Perhaps the real cherry blossoms will come out soon. Oh, if you need to watch a yule log our “real” western fireplace turns on and off with a light switch. It can heat up a room, though. Best, Dee.
