Okay, we’re not sure about that last part, but Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are breakng up. The story is on all the official GOP media outlets: Fox News, Star magazine, People, Us Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Perez Hilton, The Hollywood Gossip, Celebrity Bride Guide, TMZ, The Insider, E! OnLine, and Access Hollywood.
A spokesman for Ms. Palin’s mother, Governor Sarah Palin, declined comment; her father Todd is said to be in seclusion, cleaning firearms. Spurned Baby-Daddy and fiance Levi Johnston is just chillin.‘ Mr. Johnston’s mother, accused drug dealer Sherry Johnston, must also have an opinion, but she ain’t snitchin.’
There is no truth to the rumor that Bristol is giving her baby to Angelina Jolie. We know this because we just made that up. Reports that Octo-Mom is caring for the Palin-Johnston baby, Tripp, are likewise unfounded.
Our thoughts are with both families on this trying day. We hope the Palins can make some time to meet with their spiritual advisor, Reverend Limbaugh.

Has it occurred to anyone that the horrible press coverage may have contributed to the young couple’s stress?

Did it occur to Governor Palin to inform the McCain campaign that her unwed daughter was pregnant? You know the answer to that. Sarah Palin made the personal life of other Americans — and the pregnancy of every Americam woman — her business, yet she demands privacy for her own family concerns.
The Governor has run for every office as a professional “Hockey Mom,” making press scrutiny of her child-raising skills inevitable. Blame Grandma Sarah, not the press.
The Governor is benefitting politically from her daughter’s distress — it has distracted the media in the Lower 48 from observing how badly she has botched the pipeline project her predecessor handed her on a silver platter. And her PAC began a big fundraising drive yesterday. Coincidence?

History Chaser –
I agree with Mike Licht here. The governor knew about the pregnancy, and the McCain campaign claimed they knew as well. Their political advisers were not dumb enough to believe that this would not become a campaign issue to be manipulated by the right and the left.
Gov. Palin made the decision to inject Bristol, Levi, and the baby into the news cycle, so the onus for the “stress” lies squarely on her shoulders.

and their storybook romance comes to an end, blindsiding us all.

So if you blame Sarah Palin, go after her. not the young couple and tiny baby caught up in this situation.
The McCain Campaign issued a statement early on that McCain was informed of Bristol’s pregnancy. I will take them at their word. After all you saw her at the Convention. It could not have been kept a secret so I believe this.
I have never seen so many sanctimonious 40 year old virgins (men yet) popping out of the woodwork to point a finger of shame.
Surely you have better to do.

… not the young couple and tiny baby caught up in this situation.
They were not “caught up.” They were thrust onto center stage by a callous, ambitious individual who happens to be a relative, Sarah Palin.
The McCain Campaign issued a statement early on that McCain was informed of Bristol’s pregnancy.
Some staffers sang a different tune after the election.
I will take them at their word.
Knock yourself out. The point is that Sarah Palin knew, and she knew full well what would happen when her daughter’s`situation became public. Governor Palin may have`zero qualifications to govern, but she earned a degree in journalism after attending five of the best fourth-rate colleges in the country. Sarah Palin was even a professional video journalist.
It [Bristol’s pregnancy] could not have been kept a secret …
The McCain VP selection occurred so fast it could have been concealed from the campaign until it was too late, as some former staffers allege. But Governor Palin knew that half of Wasilla knew, and much of Anchorage (her daughter was living with her aunt there). In short, Governor Palin knew running for national office at that point in time would make her own daughter’s life pure Hell, and she chose to do so.
I have never seen so many sanctimonious 40 year old virgins (men yet) popping out of the woodwork to point a finger of shame.
Spare us. You know full well this is not about sex. It is about hypocrisy. It is not about teenagers or babies. It is about an inept, ambitious demagogue who runs for office as “just a Mom” but throws her own child and grandchild to the wolves. Sanctimonious? That should be Sarah Palin’s middle name.
This would play out as melodrama if not Greek tragedy were it not for the sheer jaw-dropping buffoonery of the Honorable Hockey Mom and her First Thug.
Bristol Palin deserves our sympathy, especiallly for what her own mother has done to her. Her mother deserves all the scorn we can muster.
I think we’re done here. Comments closed.
