“. . . I will create millions of high-paying jobs through tax cuts that spur economic growth . . . .” — Senator John Sidney McCain III (R-AZ).
Can the economy be saved through tax cuts? Find out for yourself with this simple experiment:
1. Pull the Sunday paper out of all the trash cans on your block.
2. Cut out all the grocery coupons.
3. Go to the supermarket.
4. Fill your cart with groceries equal to the amount of discount on the coupons; e.g., if you have ten “10-percent-off” coupons, put that item in your cart (Cocoa Krispies! Good choice!).
5. Go to the checkout stand; unload the groceries; hand the clerk your coupons. Smile.
6. The clerk and bagger will discuss the McCain economic theory with you. So will the manager and the nice security guard. Explain that reducing the money you pay them will grow your economy.
7. If all else fails, say you’re Joe the Plumber. Hey, it grew his job, and he isn’t “Joe” or a plumber either!

What do you do for work, Mike? I’m curious.

WB asks: What do you do for work, Mike? I’m curious.
Why, got some work for me?
I am out of the 1040 world and in the 1099 area these days, working on contract (writing, consulting, composing and playing music). No plumbing, although I did refinish bathtubs when I was in grad school.
