Boys and Girls Club Up for Grabs

Boys and Girls Club Up for Grabs

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington discontinued programs at the Eastern Branch Boys and Girls Club  (261 17th Street, SE) this summer. Developers The Jair Lynch Cos. and CB Richard Ellis have been hired to help evaluate proposals for the development or sale of the Eastern Branch clubhouse and three other properties.

Public service projects will be strongly considered but the Southeast parcel’s zoning would permit development of housing.

Nonprofit community group Neighbors United organized last year to operate programs for children and families in the Eastern Branch facility, and will be sunmitting a proposal. Proposals are due by Valentine’s Day, February 14th.

For information on Neighbors United see the website and blog or contact Executive Director Jerry May at (202) 441-2755 or exdirneighborsunited@comcast.net.
