Biden Insults President’s Dog!

Biden Insults Presidents Dog!

Vice President Jospeh Biden stunned a Syracuse audience Sunday with his stinging insults to President Obama’s dog.

“My dog is smarter than Bo,” said Mr. Biden, comparing his own puppy, Champ, to the Chief Executive’s Portuguese Water Dog, official First Dog of the entire United States of America.

The influential audience of 5th graders at Bellevue Elementary School was clearly shocked.

“Bo’s a beautiful dog too,” the Vice President added, realizing his gaffe.

But it’s on video.

Woof!

Cheney on Wheels

Cheney on Wheels

Outgoing Vice President Dick Cheney coasted through the inauguration of Barack Obama and Joe Biden Tuesday. He was in a wheelchair.

Mr. Cheney pulled a back muscle after spending the weekend hunched over a document shredder in his office.

The former Vice President claims he hurt his back moving boxes out of  his old office, but Stanley I. Kutler of the University of Wisconsin Law School says: “[W]hen the Archives goes to open Cheney’s papers, they are going to find empty boxes.”  A federal judge allowed Mr. Cheney to determine which of his official papers should be preserved. Details here.

Near-Witness to Pseudo-Events of History

Near-Witness to Pseudo-Events of History

[Looking for the program of the Swearing-In Ceremony (starts 11:30 AM 20 January 2009)? It's here.]

We went down to the Pre-Inaugural Concert Sunday afternoon, exiting the Farragut West Metrorail station about 2:30 PM and walking down 18th Street, NW to the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall. Motor traffic was banned from the area,  just as it is during World Bank meetings. There was a party atmosphere as the crowd ambled along, and Springsteen‘s voice echoed up from the performance.

The area nearest the Lincoln Memorial concert site was already at capacity and security checkpoints were closed, so we watched the concert on the three giant Jumbotron screens set up between the World War II Memorial and the Washington Monument. The jubilant crowd was friendly and well-behaved, and people of all ages and origins from all around the nation and the world joked and chatted amiably, exchanging notes on the music and performers, expressing their relief, joy, and hopes. It may have been a pseudo-event, but the feelings were genuine.

Veep Debate TV -- Beyond Boffo!
Senator Biden and Governor Palin debate, Thursday, October 2, 2008.

70 million U.S. television viewers watched the 2008 Vice-Presidential debate last Thursday. Even PBS had 3.5 million viewers. The first Presidential debate got 34 percent fewer viewers, 52.4 million, including 2.6 million on PBS.

The Veeps reaped 45 percent of households in the top markets, said Nielsen, while the September 26th McCain-Obama presidential debate got 31.6 percent. The Veeps vied on Thursday, a popular TV-watching night, and McCain and Obama tangled on a date-night Friday, but still . . . .

Palin -- Biden Debate is History

Republican Governor Sarah Palin and Democratic Senator Joe Biden debated on television last night, answering questions posed by journalist Gwen Ifill of PBS.

Actually, only Senator Biden answered questions asked by Ms. Ifill. Governor Palin answered questions posed by a moderator in some alternative debate universe.

Poor Boy Biden Makes Good

August 25, 2008

Senator Barack Obama has always shown genuine concern for the poor. His own early childhood on food stamps and later work as a community organizer in Chicago underlie this sensitivity and awareness. That is probably why he passed over multimillionaire Hillary Clinton and chose poor boy Joe Biden as his running mate.

Healing Heartsick Hillary Holdouts

Why Biden? We really can’t say. Why now? That’s easy: to let diehard Hillary Clinton supporters know that a Clinton vice presidential bid is definitely not going to happen, and give them time to purge their bitterness, mourn, and get with the program before the Democratic Convention gets into high gear.
