Joe the Plumber has won the Republican nomination for Ohio’s 9th District Congressional race, narrowly defeating an opponent with a more impressive resume by outspending him 6-to-1. Loser Steve Kraus is an auctioneer, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Christian Coalition, a college graduate, an engineer, and a real estate agent.
You may remember Joe the Plumber. His name isn’t really Joe and he isn’t really a plumber, but he became famous in 2008 for asking presidential candidate Barack Obama questions and pretending to be in a tax bracket much higher than his own. Since then, Samuel Joseph “Joe” Wurzelbacher campaigned for failed presidential candidate John McCain and failed as both author and Internet foreign correspondent.
Mr. Wurzelbacher wants to unseat Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D, OH-9) because she was indoctrinated by those Marxist nuns at Little Flower Roman Catholic Church and St. Ursula Academy and associates with commie outfits like the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Raised in luxury, she enjoyed all the snobbish privileges provided by her family’s grocery store and her mom’s job at the Champion Spark Plug Company. Congresswoman Kaptur claims degrees from several diploma mills, the so-called “University of Wisconsin,” “University of Michigan,” and (ha!) “MIT.”
Representing the 9th District of Ohio in the U.S. Congress since 1963, Marcy Kaptur has been on a bunch of committees, introduced lots of bills and stuff, and promoted that classic piece of Stalinist architecture, the National World War II Memorial. Rep. Kaptur even wrote a book but, unlike novelist Joe, she didn’t have enough imagination to make her story up. Is that the kind of representation Greater Toledo deserves?
