After 17 colorful years, Silvio Berlusconi has stepped down as Italian Prime Minister, resigning in order to spend more quality time with his bunga-bunga parties. Mr. Berlusconi is now merely a private Italian citizen, third-richest man in Italy, and defendant in several lurid court cases.
This isn’t the first time Mr. Berlusconi has resigned in disgrace. He stepped down as P.M. in December 1994 amidst charges of fraud, tax evasion, and conflict of interest.
This time Silvio Berlusconi was driven from office simply because he brought the entire European economy to the brink of disaster. Don’t worry about him, though. If he loses his $6 billion personal fortune he can always go back to the job that put him through law school — cruise singer.
