John Ensign, U.S. Senator from Nevada (“The Whores & Gambling State”) has announced his resignation from Congress, despite earlier promises to see out the remainder of his term. The Evangelical Christian Republican, a confessed adulterer who slept with His Neighbor’s Wife, resigned to avoid an ethics investigation into the $96,000 payment of hush money he made to said Neighbor’s Wife, an employee and the wife of an employee.
Senator Ensign often opined that he was better than former President Bill Clinton, who only got a quickie with an intern. The Bill Clinton comparison always comes up since Ensign, as a congressman, voted to impeach then-President Clinton for embarrassing the nation and causing a lack of confidence in government.
John Ensign belongs to the Christian men’s Promise Keepers® ministry (motto: “Men of Integrity”), where his Seven Promises include:
No. 3: A Promise Keeper® is committed to practicing spiritual, moral, ethical, and sexual purity.
No. 4: A Promise Keeper® is committed to building strong marriages and families through love, protection and biblical values.
While in Washington, Senator Ensign resided with his other ministry, the C Street Cabal. No word if Senator Ensign will return to his former professions, casino keeper and veterinarian or if he will observe Easter back at the Meadows Fellowship Foursquare Church in Las Vegas.
Mr. Ensign’s successor will be appointed by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, former Chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, state Attorney General, and G.W. Bush-appointed Federal Judge.
The PK logo is a registered trademark of the Promise Keepers ® cult, and is used here to indicate the opprobrium brought upon it by this lying, adulterous official.

It appears from the New York Times that Ensign was leaving on the date he did because the next day he would have to testify to the ethics committee.
The ethics committee promises to pursue their investigation to a full conclusion.
So……what would it take for a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request to get the full content of that investigation, I wonder?

I live in DC, but I’m the only one on my block who isn’t a lawyer. That said, I have a feeling you can’t FOIA Ethics Committee investigative materials that have not been submitted as evidence in a hearing. They remain confidential.
