Who “abetted a fly-by-night, pump-and-dump, no-accountability model of structured mortgage finance”? An obscure corporation in Reston, Virginia. You probably should know more about the Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS). It may own your house.

“… we’re talking about a militant terrorist situation, which I believe it isn’t a widespread thing, but it is enough that we need to address, and we have been addressing it.”
“My thoughts are these, first of all, Dearborn, Michigan, and Frankford, Texas are on American soil, and under constitutional law. Not Sharia law. And I don’t know how that happened in the United States. It seems to me there is something fundamentally wrong with allowing a foreign system of law to even take hold in any municipality or government situation in our United States.”
– Sharron Angle, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate.

On October 11, 2010, the Federal Office of Management and Budget observes the invasion of the Americas by Christophorus Columbus (aka Christoffa Corombo, Cristoforo Colombo, Cristóvão Colombo, Christovam Colom, and Cristóbal Colón), a Genoese private contractor working for the government of Castille. U.S. Federal employees have Monday off. Even at the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Of course, senators and congressmen have every Monday off. Every Friday, too.
God Bless America.
Note: Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 is Native American Day in South Dakota.

The IMF/World Bank Annual Meeting paralyzes the streets of Washington again this weekend as police defend our economic overlords from scruffy college kids and hippies playing drums.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk begins at Nationals Park, travels into Maryland and back to Union Station, 60 miles in all.
Saturday pits the Festival of the Building Arts against the Taste of Georgetown.

Real Househusband Tareq Salahi blames the Washington Post for the fact that the world sees him and his wife as “delusional grifters.” He told the Daily Beast‘s Nicole LaPorte that the Post revealed the Salahi’s family lawsuits, bankruptcy filings, and unpaid debts out of revenge. For what? For unpaid advertising bills from his bankrupt polo event and winery.
Only it never was his winery. See:
“Salahi 101: A Guide To The Lawsuits & Lies,” Jezebel.com
The couple had their lawyer send a stern email to fellow reality show cast members cautioning them to cease calling the Salahis “White House crashers.” Other “Real Housewives” told the press about the email, claim the duo, because they crave media attention.
When you Google “delusional grifters,” expect the search results to read “Tareq and Michaele Salahi.”
Hat tip: Matt Dornic, FishbowlDC.

Mexico has an illegal alien problem. Most of Mexico’s illegal aliens are from the United States.
But it’s not really a problem. Despite what you read in the Washington Times and hear from Tea Party hate mongers, illegal immigration is a civil offense in Mexico, not a criminal one.* People who cross the border illegally or over-stay their visas are told to pay a small fine and fill out their papers. No one in Mexico goes to jail for simple immigration violations, and no one is deported.
More:
“Mexico’s illegal immigrants? Americans.” Meghan Collins Sullivan, GlobalPost.
*Fact: It’s also a civil offense in the U.S., but you wouldn’t know that from all the rhetoric, detention centers, and deportations.
